RYA Stage 1 & 2 Sailing Course (Ages 8–14)

Lagoon Watersports RYA Stage 1 & 2 Sailing Course is designed for kids aged 8–14 who want to progress from beginner sailing to confident, independent sailors. This course builds on basic water confidence and skills, giving participants the chance to achieve recognised RYA sailing stages and enjoy more control and capability on the water.

Across the week, young sailors spend focused time on skill development in dinghy sailing, learning essential techniques under the guidance of qualified, experienced instructors. The structured sessions encourage confidence, teamwork and independence, all delivered in a fun, encouraging environment where every participant can progress at their own pace.

All equipment is provided, so participants just need to arrive ready to learn and have fun.

What Participants Will Do

Participants will develop key sailing skills through structured sessions on the water. In Stage 1, sailors learn basic boat handling, launching and returning to shore confidently. In Stage 2 they build on this by mastering turns, understanding points of sail and gaining more control in varying conditions. Activities include launching, tacking, gybing and developing situational awareness, all tailored to individual progress.
