Who is this course for?

Young sailors age 10 – 16 with RYA Youth Stage 4. 

The Performance course advances the sailors from RYA Stage 4 and starts introducing new skills with Spinnakers and all the extra power these sails gives your boats downwind performance. In addition we will cover some seamanship skills in planning and executing a trip on the boats, taking into account the weather, tides and navigation. Then there is an introduction to racing and race starts which is a great way to improve your sailing skills.

• Setting up Spinnaker and launching techniques
• Downwind Asymmetric Sail handling and harnessing all that power
• Introduction to racing, race starts and mark rounding, rules
• Planning a trip, use of charts, planning for tides and weather
