RYA Start Yachting
The RYA Start Yachting course is for beginner yacht sailors and those who would like to become an active member of the crew rather than just a passenger. This course starts at 09:00 and finishes at 17:00 from Brighton Marina on Saturday and Sunday. You will be sailing in the Brighton area and will not need to stay onboard. By the end of the course you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board.
Course content includes:
- Boat handling skills under Sail and Motor
- Ropework for mooring and sail handling
- Learning to steer to the wind
- Meteorology
- Saftety at Sea
- Emergency Equipment & Precautions
- Clothing & Safety Equipment
When you learn how to sail, you will not only become familiar with all aspects of your boat, but also how your boat relates to its environment in terms of everything from the wind to the weather. Learning how to sail can be so fulfilling, using brain and muscle can give a great sense of accomplishment. If you are new to yachts and want to learn to sail from Brighton then this course is a great introduction to sailing for complete beginners, it can also count towards your Competent Crew, which will entail a further 3 days sailing.
